Getting unexpected company staying for the weekend?
No problem! Dryer Sheets to the rescue.....

Modern Living at Home Decorators.com Freshen comforters and decorative pillows by placing them in the clothes dryer with 2 to 3 dryer sheets for about 5 minutes on the "Cool Cycle". They will smell fresh and look fluffy and new! Dryer sheets work wonders under upholstered seat cushions to freshen the living areas too!

Round or Square – Avoid Rectangles!
Round or Square coffee tables or ottomans, will anchor and unite seating areas, and create good balance within a room.

Workable Moveable Pieces!
Buy multi-functional furniture pieces, that can be used in different rooms, different functions.
Example: a small chest could be used nest to a sofa or to a bed

"Decorator's Roadmap"

Decorating your home is a wonderful opportunity to express your personality. It should be a fun and rewarding experience!

Design is more than just beautifying your home. Design is function. Design is organization. It is using psychology to create a safe and comfortable home environment that your family will be proud of, that expresses your personality and your family's personality. Design should also reflect your lifestyle.

Decorating is really very personal - like choosing your wardrobe. All the elements are there - style, color, texture and so on. These elements should reflect the people who live there. Whenever you return home, from the outside to the inside, you should always feel good about being there.

The key to success is planning. Planning will eliminate costly mistakes, reduce stress and help you make important decisions to achieve your desired goals.

Always make a complete plan for each room, before you begin. Mistakes are often made because decisions and purchases are made one at a time. A plan will allow you the flexibility to complete your project, over a period of time, that is comfortable and cost effective for you.

Are You Ready To Sell Your Home?
... Are You Really Ready?

Before listing your home for market, take a walk through the Interior of your home. Look in every closet, nook and cranny. "Where did that stain come from?" "I always meant to fix that!" Then walk around the exterior of your home. Don't forget carports, garages, sheds and patios. Now walk around the entire property. "Hmm…what is hiding under that bush!"

As a professional homestager, I have visited homes where the home owners have reluctantly called me, after their Realtor suggested having their home staged to get top dollar and sell quickly. They had felt that nothing more could be done to improve their house without spending a fortune. Their thoughts are "I did repairs, inside and outside, updated the hardware, cleaned, painted the trim and pruned the roses. The right buyer will see the great features and all the potential." Think Again!

Homestaging is an art, using a different psychology than for interior design, or interior decorating. Homestaging is intended to give your home a positive and immediate First Impression. Remember, potential buyers will make their decision within the first 10 to 15 seconds they arrive. Homestaging is meant to appeal to a wider range of buyers and give your home a competitive edge. There have been studies about home staging, across our country, in Canada and the UK. These studies are conclusive: "staged homes sell quicker and for a higher price".

Buyers today are extremely busy people, who are looking for a "model home" to move into and not a project that requires fixing and painting. Of course, after awhile, they will begin personalizing. Certainly, as they should.

As a Home Stager, it is my job to prepare your home for market. Home Staging does not need to be expensive. I always begin with a thorough walkthrough, starting with Curb Appeal - which includes the exterior and yard. I then walk through the interior of the home. If I am asked to do hands-on staging, (after all has been repaired, painted and cleaned), I begin with the home owner's furnishings. I rearrange, edit, organize, and enhance the home's best features, and minimize the trouble areas. Staging a vacant home does not need to be expensive either. It's amazing how rooms can be made to "appear larger," "showcase a foyer" where there isn't one, make rooms brighter and update kitchens without remodeling. "Can Home Stagers really do magic?" Not really. But we can do wonderful things to help you sell your home faster and for more money!
